Join me, Lola, as I explore the Star Wars universe through the eyes of the diabolic Sith Lord Tsaebgal, and the angelic Republic Trooper called Lillian Snowfall.
Lets talk Massively, Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPG)
“BioWare and EA's ambitious licensed MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic surpassed 1 million paid subscribers in three days, the fastest any MMO has achieved that milestone.” Gamasutra
Lola: What MMORPG's have you played?
Tsaebgal: “World of Warcraft (WoW,) Ultima Online and DC Universe.”
Lillian Snowfall: “Wow now that is a long list to ask for. I have played Aion, Lord of the Rings Online, Age of Conan, WoW, Age of Reckoning, Everquest 2, Allods Online, Black Prophecy, Eve Online, City of Heroes, Champions Online, DC Universe Online, Dungeons & Dragons Online, Eden Eternal, Final Fantasy XIV, Global Agenda, Rift, Guild Wars...I’m just going to stop now since the list goes on and on.”
Lola: Which of these did you enjoy the most? What makes that game better than the rest?
Tsaebgal: “I am a Star Wars fan so naturally I lean towards the content of Star Wars The Old Republic (SWTOR/TOR) a lot more than the others. However the gameplay of Ultima Online is just incredible. If it had better graphics and was released now I'm pretty sure it would do incredible.”
Lillian Snowfall: “That honour has to go to Lord of the Rings Online. An excellent community, fascinating story line as well as in my opinion the best class system in a MMO. It is designed in a way that gives every class a distinct purpose.”
Lola: When compared to WoW, which aspects has TOR improved upon in your opinion?
“Tsaebgal: The biggest improvement TOR has brought about is to mesh the MMO with the RPG. The quests are so much more entertaining and interactive than WoW's is. Being able to modify your armour is a massive improvement from having to change the look of your character all the time. Lastly implementing the crafting skills to your companion, whereas in WoW you had to grind away in a Profession.”
Lillian Snowfall: “First of all, I would say, Bioware improved on overall game story. Questing is exciting, and not a pointless chore as it became in WoW. Secondly they improved on Dungeons/Flashpoints by allowing all party members to take part in conversations and decisions. In instances this actually has an impact on how the instance continues. Thirdly they improved on interacting with 'crew skill items' you find in certain instances. If you have, for example, scavenging as your craft, you can activate drill which will open a short-cut for you."
16Bit TF “Frags & Affection” Ultiduo
In the spirit of Valentines Day and kicking off 2012 with a whole lot of fun, 16Bit TF will be hosting the 16Bit TF “Frags & Affection” Ultiduo on Sunday the 12th of February. This will be S.A’s very first Ultiduo and every one and any one is welcome to enter. So what is Ultiduo? The combo from 6v6 (medic and soldier) work together to kill the opponent combo. It is King of the Hill (KOTH); the objective is to capture the point and hold it for 3 minutes. It’s basically a death match style competition, very simple and easy to play. The concept is meant to celebrate a very integral aspect of team fortress which is the medic and soldier; this is the core of the competitive scene and also is a staple combination in pub play. With its fast-paced action an Ultiduo competition promises to deliver excitement, upsets and “midairs”. We looking forward to seeing new faces show their skills and expertise with the medic and soldier classes. Simply create a 2v2 team and you’ll be able to sign up.
